CHAPTER 15

Two hours had gone by and Sophia was a nervous wreck when her bell sounded. She hopped out of her seat in the dining room and hurried to the door. She pressed the button to buzz Allison in, not even sure it was her at the door. Her nervousness had her on edge and eager to solve the problem of the dead body in her living room.

Within minutes she heard a light tap at her door and she rushed over to open it. Allison walked in and immediately Sophia ran into her arms.

“Are you okay?” Allison asked as she pulled Sophia back into the dining room.

Sophia was about to sit down when she looked passed Allison and saw two extremely large men walk in behind her. They both were wearing dark blue overalls, boots, and hats pulled down low over their eyes.

“Allison, who are these men?”

Allison turned around to see the two men walking in the apartment. One was pulling a trolley with a huge crate on it with the words Emilio’s Upholstery Cleaning on the side. The other was hauling a steamer.

“These are the Emilio brothers. They are here to… clean up.”

Sophia watched the man who had been hauling in the crate began to unload different bottles of cleansers. “Clean up what,” Sophia asked confused.

Allison stared straight into her eyes. “Everything.” She then turned to the man with the steamer. “How long do you need?”

“Two hours,” he answered. His voice was deep and scratchy.

“And our alibi?”

The man reached into his overall pocket and pulled out a card. “Go here and stay until well after midnight. You will have several eye witnesses willing to testify that you were there all night partying.” The man then turned and went over to join his brother.

Allison looked down at the card in her hand and read the clubs name, Club Addictive.

“Let’s go,” she said grabbing Sophia’s hand and pulling her towards the bedroom. She let go of her hand and walked over to her closet. She pushed around the clothes until she found what she was looking for. She then grabbed a pair of heels that matched perfectly. When she turned to face Sophia, she was holding a dove gray short mini dress that would loosely drape over her hips, and gray strappy shoes.

Sophia was still standing in the middle of the floor with her arms wrapped tightly around her middle. Dried blood was on her face, neck, hands, and shirt. “Take a shower, put this on and do your hair.” When Sophia just stood there Allison barked the order at her again. “Now, Sophia!”

The sharp sound of Allison's voice made Sophia jump into action. She began to undress, pulling the stiff shirt over her head as she made her way into the bathroom. Once Allison heard the shower start, she peeked inside to make sure she was okay. Once she saw that she was, she returned to the closet and searched for something she could wear. She found a burnt orange dress that was cut low in the back and a hem that would stop just above the knee.
